Durga group became an economic empowered group

Durga group is an economic empowerment group of 13 women. In simple words, it is a mutual savings group. This group belongs to Chhattisgarh’s District-Kanker, Block Bhanupratappur, and Village Kenwati.

Through the medium of Panchayat Samiti, the group has taken the responsibility of  Gouthan(a place for collecting cow dung) under the responsibility or supervision of the Panchayat Samiti.

Once the rural meeting of Ekta Mahila Manch was going on, then 2 women of the Durga group discussed the economic program in the meeting and asked how this economic empowerment will increase and what we can do. Then district coordinator Ramotin Yadav informed them about training which was going on in Mahasamund district and said that you go there for a 3-day training and learn how you can make cow dung manure and sell it and earn profit.

After a week’s training, the Durga group decided that they will also do that work for the empowerment of the group.  And they used to buy cow dung from all the people of the village at the rate of Rs.2/-kg. They bought cow dung and a type of worm and mixed them after 3 months of process, they started making double profit by extracting the cost. In this way, the Durga group made its group financially strong by making and selling cow dung manure and has also started training other people to conduct such economic programs.
